Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla calendar, is being celebrated across the country today (Tuesday) without outdoor programmes due to the coronavirus pandemic. There is no outdoor programme this time to avoid public gatherings.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Miller and Australian High Commissioner in Dhaka Jeremy Bruer on Tuesday greeted Bangladeshis on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year.

“As we join forces to fight COVID-19, on behalf of the entire US Embassy community, including our American Spaces, I wish Bangladeshis everywhere a safe & healthy Pahela Baishakh,” said US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Miller.

“On the day when we celebrate Bengali New Year, I wish Bangladesh and its people Shubho Nobobarsha!,” Australian high commissioner said in a message.
