National Professor and noted educationist Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury has died of heart attack at his residence in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi.
He died early Tuesday, said Shibli Rubayat-u Islam, dean of Dhaka University’s Faculty of Business Studies and also Jamilur Reza’s relative. He was 77 and from Sylhet.
“Last night, he was sleeping at his Dhanmondi residence. During sehri, his wife called him but he did not respond. He was then taken to the city’s Square Hospital where physicians around 4:00am declared him dead.
Dr Choudhury was a renowned civil engineer and educationist.
He was the vice chancellor of University of Asia Pacific. He had been the president of Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee since 2003.
In 2017, he was awarded Ekushey Padak by the Government of Bangladesh in the category of science and technology.
He will be buried at Banani graveyard following his namaz-e-janaza after Zohr prayers.
