Road Transport and Bridges minister Obaidul Quader said on Saturday that the government is mulling over resumption of public transport services after the end of the ‘strict lockdown’’.
He said, in public interest, the government is planning to restart the operation of public transport, maintaining health guidelines.
If bus operators charge more than the increased fare, they would be punished, he said.
He said that they were considering the issue for public interests.
Meanwhile, officials of Bangladesh Railway told New Age that they were taking preparations to resume services from April 29.
They said that they would resume the services only after government decision to do so.
During the meeting, Quader directed all concerned to take effective measures to upgrade the Faridpur-Bhanga-Barishal road to four-lane.
