This summer, Shanghai is the place to be for tourism, culture, and shopping. The 5th Shanghai Shopping Festival and the first Shanghai Summer International Consumption Season will stimulate tourism and activities as a new annual planned activity beginning at the end of this month.
The words “debut economy,” “brand economy,” “nighttime economy,” and “live streaming economy” are used to introduce new services, cars, and sustainable products.
There are two themes: 55@Shanghai and “love shopping Shanghai”.
Following the retail events, the celebrations will continue in July with 65 high-quality concerts, music festivals, artistic performances, culture and art exhibitions, and important sporting events.
Some of the prominent events are the Civilization of Ancient Egypt show, the City Walk Pro Shanghai city experience season, the first Shanghai International Cruise Festival, the 2024 Shanghai Tourism Festival, and the Shanghai Masters ATP1000. A total of 58 unique themed activities ensure a varied urban consumer experience.

Includes sports evenings, patio seasons, artisan beer festivals, nightlife guides, and nightlife consumption vouchers.

The Leyou Shanghai art season guide is available for residents and tourists to learn about the season’s performance schedule.
Shanghai Green Consumption Season
Citywide marketing will be created to highlight green shopping centres, restaurants, markets, and brands.
Shanghai Automobile Consumption Carnival
The funfair will include a variety of promotional activities, new automobile debuts and exhibitions spread over the city’s 11 demonstration sites, including Pudong New Area, Putuo, Baoshan, Songjiang and Jiading districts. It will also provide various trade-in incentives to consumers.
Shanghai Import Shopping Festival
Themed events for imported goods, cross-border shopping festivals, and online shopping events for premium export products will be launched, with discounts on a variety of high-quality goods available through designated trade platforms.
Shanghai Digital Life Festival
To encourage the entry of new online consumer brands, activities such as “digital life”, “brand livestreaming”, “digital business district”, “digital culture and tourism”, and “digital business boosting agriculture” will be launched.
Shanghai International Coffee Culture Festival
In early May, a large-scale funfair will take place along the Xuhui River. It will include coffee markets, historical brand displays, sporting events, and concerts.

Promotes Shanghai’s manufacturing firms by emphasising contemporary indigenous items.
Shanghai Global Gourmet Festival
Events such as the worldwide gourmet market, international chef skill exchanges, and global premium milestone ingredient releases will be planned. The Shanghai Global Gourmet Index report will also be published.
Shanghai Diamond and Gems Culture Festival
Brand flash mobs, trendy markets, jewellery culture exhibitions, and a competition for jewellery designers.
Shanghai Sports Consumption Festival
Major athletic events, including the Olympic Qualifier Series, the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix, and the Shanghai Marathon, will be conducted to promote the integration of Shanghai’s sports events with the commercial, cultural, tourism, and exhibition industries.
