Detective Branch charged to investigate JKG Chairman Dr Sabrina’s case

The case file of JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury has been handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), for investigation.

She is being interrogated at the DB office, Golam Mostofa Rasel, deputy commissioner (DC-Tejgaon Division) of DB confirmed on Tuesday.

Md Salauddin, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon police station, confirmed the news.

Tejgaon police station Officer-In-Charge (OC) Md Salauddin Mia said: “We have handed over the case documents and the accused to the DB officas per an official instruction.”

Earlier on Monday, a Dhaka court placed Dr Sabrina on a three-day remand in the case filed against her for issuing fake Covid-19 test certificates with Tejgaon Police Station.

Later in the night, the case was transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of police for investigation.

A case was filed against Dr Sabrina on Sunday with the Tejgaon Police for issuing fake Covid-19 test certificates.

Police filed the case against six people, including JKG Health Care’s Chief Executive Officer Ariful Chowdhury, also the husband of Dr Sabrina.

Meantime, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday decided to start investigation into the allegations brought against Dr Sabrina.

ACC Director (public relations), Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, confirmed the matter.

ACC learnt from various sources that the accused conspired with her husband Arif Chowdhury to illegally amass Tk8 crore while in government service.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry on Sunday suspended Dr Sabrina for her alleged crimes.
