Bangladesh on saw the detection of another 2,977 coronavirus patients in 24 hours, raising the total number of infections to 249,651 and the current infection rate is 23.43 percent.
During the period the country registered death of 39 new victims which increased total number of fatalities to 3,306.
Professor Dr Bayezid Khurshid Riyaz, Director of National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM), made the disclosure during a virtual briefing on Thursday.
In the last 24 hours, 86 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 12,708 samples.
He added a total of 1,225,124 samples have been tested so far.
Meanwhile, 2,074 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 1,43,824, the health bulletin said.
The first coronavirus death case was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
