Holy Cross archbishop Moses M Costa of Chittagong Archdiocese died of heart attack at Square Hospital in Dhaka on Monday morning.
According to the Chittagong Catholic Archdiocese, the archbishop breathed his last at 9:20 am. He was 70.
Father Kamal Corraya, director of St John Vianney Hospital in Tejgaon, told New Age that he came to Dhaka on June 10 and was admitted with high fever and later tested positive for COVID-19. The archbishop died of a sudden heart attack after recovering from the viral disease.
The archbishop’s body will be taken to Tejgaon Church from Square Hospital.
The burial will be held in the church premises around 3:30pm tomorrow, said the Vicar Gen of Chattogram.
Kept in Patharghata Catholic Church from 7:00am to 2:00pm tomorrow for people to pay their final respects.
Bishop Moses M Costa is the first ‘Metropolitan Archbishop’ of Chittagong. He was appointed on February 2, 2017, as Pope Francis elevated the Chittagong diocese to the status of Metropolitan Archdiocese.
Six years prior to Mose’s appointment as an archbishop, he was discharged of his duties as the Bishop of Chittagong.
