Bangladesh reports 43 more virus deaths, 3,412 new cases, 880 recover in 24 hours

Bangladesh has registered 43 new fatalities from COVID-19 in a daily count, bringing the death toll to 1,545.

The number of total COVID-19 patients also surged to 1,19,198 to as the health authorities confirmed the detection of 3,412 new cases across the country during the same period.

Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin on this afternoon.

Another 880 patients recovered from the disease at home and in hospital care in the same period, raising the total to 47,635, DGHS Additional Director General Nasima Sultana said in a media briefing. The recovery rate currently stands at 39.96 percent while the mortality rate is 1.30 percent.

In the last 24 hours, 62 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 16,292 samples, Dr Nasima added.

The detection rate of new patients on Tuesday has been recorded at 20.94 percent.

Among the deceased, 38 were male and five were female.
