Bangladesh reports 34 more virus deaths, 2,709 test positive in 24 hours

Bangladesh today recorded 34 coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths and 2,709 fresh cases in 24 hours. Raising the total number of infections to 2,02,066.

During the period the country registered death increased total number of fatalities to 2,581.

Health authorities reported that another 1,373 people have recovered from the disease in a day, taking the total number of recoveries to 110,098 .

Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin.

Nasima Sultana said a total of 10,923 samples were tested.

She added a total of 10,17,674 samples have been tested so far.

The detection rate of new patients on Friday has been recorded 24.80 percent while the overall rate of infection since March 8 is 19.86 percent.

Against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 54.49 percent and the mortality rate is 1.28 percent in the country.

Bangladesh first detected coronavirus on 8 March and a patient first died on 18 March.
