Eighteen more people have been tested positive in Bangladesh for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 88, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) said Sunday.
This is the biggest jump in positive tests over a 24-hour period since Bangladesh announced its first cases on March 8.
However, one more people have died of coronavirus, taking the total death toll in the country to nine, it added.
Meerjady Sabrina Flora, director of IEDCR, disclosed the information while briefing media via video conference today.
Coronavirus, first reported in China in December last year, is affecting 205 countries and territories around the world and two international cruise ships.
Besides, the death toll from the coronavirus or COVID-19 has crossed 64,000 globally as of Sunday noon.
Coronavirus has so far infected more than 12 lakh people around the world, according to worldometer.
